Financial Risk Management
March 21 - 22, 2017
An understanding of the financial risks involved in modern financial services firms and other corporations and the techniques available to manage those risks is fundamental to successful management of commercial organisations. Without knowledge of financial risk management, it is not possible to develop a strategic approach to corporate operations management in present day commercial organisations.
This two-day workshop considers theoretical, empirical and practical aspects of financial risk management. It provides a brief study of some of the risk management aspects of derivative securities e.g. options, futures and forward contracts, and swaps. The workshop highlights practical applications of these securities focusing on the concept of financial engineering. The central question with which this workshop is concerned is: “How do you identify and price financial risk and what strategies are available in order to manage and contain that risk?” The concept of value-at-risk and a discussion of Basel I, II, and III will also be covered.
