Dr. Christoph H. Loch, Director Judge Business School, University of Cambridge visited Karachi School for Business and Leadership in mid-May to meet Dr. Shaukat A. Brah, Dean KSBL, the prestigious faculty members and the Board of Directors over a private lunch gathering. Dr. Loch had an interesting session with the MBA batches the same day, followed by a dinner reception, where he had fruitful discussions about educational landscape with the Board of Directors, CEOs of leading organisations and KSBL’s trustees.
During his visit, Dr Loch also attended a seminar on “SMEs Management in Asia and South Asia”, where he was the keynote speaker and shared his views on the management of SMEs in South Asia. He discussed the challenges confronted by small-scale ventures in countries like China and India, and their struggles to accomplish business sustainability and growth. The seminar included a research presentation by Dr. Faheem ul Islam, Associate Professor of Competitiveness and Strategy and Associate Dean, KSBL, on “Institutional Support Structures for SMEs and International Best Practices”, focusing Pakistani enterprises primarily. A panel discussion, which was moderated by Dr. Jawaid Ghani, Professor of Strategy and Marketing Research and Director, Executive MBA, on “Trends, Opportunities and Challenges of Local SMEs” focused on the practices adopted by the SMEs on ground, the support provided by the government and the investments made by the private sector in the small-scale enterprises. Dr. Loch was also interviewed by teams from two leading national dailies.
