Techshop on derivatives was held on September 23-24, 2014. This two day programme primarily designed for financial institutions aimed to provide an introduction and analysis into the world of derivatives.
Derivative instruments are now an indispensible part of the toolkit for all financial practitioners from investment managers to CFOs. This programme refined the skills that are needed to be a confident and adept user of derivatives, with a particular focus on futures, swaps and options.
This programme facilitated the participants in getting an overview of the derivative products and understand their basics. It also helped them develop an awareness of the various derivative products available in Pakistan and learn how to effectively use these products for managing risk and investment. It also encompassed an understanding of swaps in hedging interest rate, foreign currency risk and learning of the valuation models behind the pricing of options and swaps. Overall, the programme provided an insightful know-how on how to effectively utilise derivatives, and was very well received by all participants.
