KARACHI: The Karachi School of Business & Leadership (KSBL) organized the 2nd HR Seminar on the theme of Talent Management, named ‘Talent in Action – Building and Retaining Excellence’, on January 26, 2017. The seminar aimed at understanding and exploring the challenges faced by organizations in soliciting and maintaining human talent and aligning it with their needs. The event showcased presentations by experts from both industry and academia, which included, Mr. Kanwar Anwer Saeed (Managing Partner, Ascend Development), Ms. Zainab Khan (General Manager HR, Servis Sales Corporation) and Dr. Muhammad Athar Siddiqui (Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management, KSBL).
Following an introduction of KSBL and the objectives of the event, Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed, Rector and Dean, KSBL set the stage for the discussion to follow, stimulating the interest of the audience. The first speaker, Ms. Zainab Khan emphasized on attracting intellectually diverse talent and spoke about high potential talent, and inter-transferable skills for millennials. Mr. Kanwar Anwar Saeed linked that with agile working and mutually committed deliverables and shared his valuable experiences from his past exposure with organizations such as Unilever and Engro, in his signature consultative style which encouraged the audience to debate various concepts.
The seminar concluded with an intellectually charged presentation by Dr. Athar Siddiqui, on the application of sociological models in Human Resource Management. He emphasized on a ‘learning’ culture that encourages developing employees to retain them and instilling a sense of mutual trust.
The speakers piqued the perspective of the attendees which was evident from the numerous questions during the session. The audience, which included distinguished HR leaders and practitioners, academia, and students from various universities, appreciated the knowledge sharing and the interactive HR dialogue that KSBL convened with a brimming auditorium.
