KSBL in collaboration with Institute of Chartered Accountants Pakistan (ICAP) Organized Round 2 of National Finance Olympiad (NFO) Competition

KSBL in collaboration with Institute of Chartered Accountants Pakistan (ICAP) conducted second round of National Finance Olympiad (NFO) 2019 competition; that was based on Harvard Case Study Simulation. This activity was held simultaneously for teams participating in Karachi and Lahore.

The National Finance Olympiad (NFO) is an exclusive initiative by ICAP, conducted in collaboration with Unilever Pakistan. The contest brings multiple skills of finance and accounting professionals into limelight, and helps them in a truly innovative manner in their capacity building and professional development. The first round of this year’s competition was a 2-hour MCQ-based test that was concurrently held in Karachi, Lahore and Dubai. Due to higher participation for first time, top 18 teams qualified for the Assessment & Simulation Round, organized at KSBL.

The succeeding teams from round 1 went through a two-hour Harvard Case Study Simulation, facilitated by Dr. Tariq Basheer (Professor of Accounting & Finance, KSBL). Dr. Tariq briefed participants about the selected case study that was based on automotive sector. At the end of activity he also shared his feedback regarding the performance of participants.

The second part of this whole day event was Assessment round that was centered on frostbite group activity, conducted by Dr. Muhammad Athar Siddiqui (Associate Dean, KSBL) and Ms. Aisha Aijaz (Manager HR & Career Services, KSBL). The activity was carried out to assess several competencies and skills of participants. The individuals were divided into groups of two teams and entire activity was assessed by a panel of senior jury members.

The KSBL student from EMBA class of 2019, Saad Ahmed Qureshi also earned the accolade of ‘Best Individual Performer Award,’ during the competition. Saad represented Engro Fertilizers Pvt. Ltd. during the contest and was awarded for his outstanding performance throughout the competition.

The Assessment and Simulation activities provided highly innovative learning experience to the participants.
