Karachi School for Business & Leadership (KSBL) places great importance on extra-curricular activities as a mode of learning. Today, real time simulations and scenario based cases supersede conventional teaching methods. In league with KSBL’s focus on providing beyond the classroom study and using innovative methods of education, “KSBL SiMERGE”, a simulation-led business competition was held at the campus on March 20– 21, 2015.
SiMERGE involved 95 participants of 17 institutions from all over Pakistan participate as teams in four simulations from the Harvard Business School. The simulations introduced and tested the participants’ concepts from four key business functions, namely Supply Chain, Marketing, HR and Finance, followed by a case study on Sustainable Energy.
Team Impulse, from IBA – Karachi won the competition based on the cumulative results of the four simulations and the case study. They were followed very closely by Team TIP from Textile Institute Of Pakistan as first runner ups, and Team SAS from PNEC NUST.
Along with the academic depth and experiential learning from SiMERGE, the effort and initiative taken by the KSBL students on hosting the first business competition of its kind in Pakistan must be applauded. KSBL seeks to pave the way forward for excellent business education both inside and outside the classrooms, and SiMERGE was just one initiative of the many!
