A group of five students from KSBL competed and emerged victorious against teams from IBA, LUMS, IoBM and LSE in the final round of the CFA Research Challenge Pakistan 2014, which is considered as one of the most prestigious competition in the field of Finance. The competition was held on March 12, 2014.
The KSBL team comprised of Muddasir Ali Soomro, Hassan Yousuf, Muhammad Mobin Jabbar, Asad Abdul Muhammad (MBA 2014) and Kashif Azam Bachani (MBA 2015), who have now qualified to represent Pakistan at Asia Pacific Regional Final, to be held at Singapore. Under the mentorship of Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed, Associate Professor of Finance at KSBL and Mr. Azfar Naseem, Head of Research at Elixir Securities, the team prepared and presented an Equity Research Report on Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), which earned the first position from among the ten teams in total.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students gain real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst and are tested on their ability to value a stock, write an initiation-of-coverage report, and present their recommendations.
We wish the team the best of luck for the Regional Final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge2014!
