Ambassador of Denmark Visits KSBL
H.E. Ms. Maja Derrous Mortensen, Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan visited the Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL) on Saturday for discussion on Denmark’s leadership in green economy and sustainable development.

The Ambassador was received by Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi, Rector of KSBL, who briefed her on the institution’s academic philosophy and its conviction that Pakistan’s most pressing leadership gap is ethical, not technical. He introduced the value-based education whose foundation is in character, and good manners. Among those welcoming the Ambassador was Mr. Sikander Bizenjo, Director of Media, Marketing and External Linkages at KSBL and an alumnus of Copenhagen Business School, reflecting the enduring institutional ties that Denmark’s investment in Pakistani scholarship has built over the years.
The discussion focused on the natural alignment between Denmark’s global leadership in green transition, climate-resilient governance, and inclusive economic policy, and KSBL’s institutional commitment to forming leaders who can carry these agendas forward in Pakistan. Faculty and student exchange with Danish institutions, including Aarhus, Copenhagen Business School, and Aalborg, and joint convening on women’s economic participation and the green economy were also discussed.
The Rector also briefed the Ambassador on KSBL’s recent work with multilateral and government partners, including the Women Economic and Financial Leadership Development (WELD) programme delivered in partnership with UNDP Pakistan and the Planning and Development Department, Government of Sindh – a programme that brings character-driven leadership formation to mid- and senior-career women from Sindh.
“Denmark has long shown the world what it means to lead with conscience, on sustainability, on governance, on the dignity of work. At KSBL, we hold ourselves to a similar standard, expressed in our own idiom: leadership grounded in character, compounded by competence, and reflected in good manners. The conversation today was not about what we might do together. It was a recognition that we are already, in our own contexts, working toward the same idea of what leadership should mean in Pakistan.”
– Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi, Rector, KSBL
Ambassador highlighted the need for academic institutions taking lead in research and convening on areas like green finance, and green economy.
“Green energy and green finance are central to Denmark’s partnership with Pakistan, and to the future of inclusive economic growth in this region. It is encouraging to find at KSBL an institution engaging these questions with academic seriousness. I have been very impressed by KSBL is offering to its students and in executive education.”
